Italian Wine Chianti

Italian Wine ChiantiHistory
The Sticciano Estate, an historic seventeenth-century farm, has a long wine-making history. Documents dated 1815 speak of wine-making but Sangiovese was probably produced even before then, in the historic cellar adjoining the villa.
Today at Sticciano, in the same cellar as that of three centuries ago, the Chianti and other wines we produce are left to mature.

My wines are an expression of this enchanted beautiful land. The land requires abundant care and knows not the limit of time; the land will not wait for the right attention at the right time. In these years I have learnt to understand her needs and read her messages. The earth, the vines, every single vine must be listened to with care. No books can teach this language of the land, one must learn to listen to her. We learn by paying great attention over the years, in errors and in silence.
After 10 years I have begun to hear her...
In the cellars we work with a modern vinification system which permits us to use extremely low doses of sulphites. Every 15 days each and every one of our wines in the cellar are tasted to check the individual progress. My wines are alive. They are born, they grow, they mature, they slowly age and inevitably one day they die. Throughout a wines existence there are certainly better periods.
For me the task is to protect and respect.
